Chiropractic Education

A Doctor of Chiropractic is a Primary Care Physician. This means patients may see their chiropractor without a referral. Chiropractors evaluate the patient just like other primary care providers by thoroughly investigating the past history of the case with the patient and performing a comprehensive exam. The Doctor will then:

  • Treat the patient, primarily with chiropractic adjustments, but other therapies or nutrition can be used as indicated.
  • Make referrals if the patient needs to see another specialist. (MD, cardiologist, orthopedist, Urologist etc)
  • Observe patient progress and refine the care plan if needed.

The procedures Doctors of Chiropractic use are based upon the clinical training and research done through accredited chiropractic colleges and includes the use of current diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.

Chiropractors are well educated; their classroom experience is comparable or superior to a medical doctor in most areas. Below is a comparison chart of the educational training of both chiropractors and medical doctors.
